I will vouch for that aswell - as I've been stung by this easy mistake to make

So much so that I have binned the idea of a cage completely - afterall, E36's are strong shells to start with - lots of side impact protection and the like

A cage can be made from CHS but if your using it as means as a form of protection its not advisable Fraser.

Depends on what its for etc..

thought it was rolled and welded but wasn't sure. It was for the mini (trackday/good weather toy) but i want a decent cage so ill spend a bit more and get a Saftey devices one
company making the CHS ones look to be bunch of crooks anyway after a quick google

Not 100% true. Cold formed CHS is rolled and welded (and relatively cheap).

Hot formed CHS isn't welded, but its almost 5 times the price.

Neither are the best material for roll cages, although both would do the job if made properly.

Yep it was, you know of him then? the mini forums seem to be full of people complaining about poor quality, fit, customer service etc.

Same sort of principle yes, but obviously on a much thicker cylinder wall if you were going to use it for something structural.
