I beat 2 other novas a cosworth an audi S3 a shitty motorbike off the lights 2 rs turbos and fiat turbo, i can go on and on and on.

Ive just got in from my mates and he knows the nova its a heavily modified 2.0 with twin carbs and uprated management. Does that sound standard to you people?????

People can diss standard uk scoobies all they like trust me they aint that slow, its got a lot to do with the driver, people talk as if they are the only ones that have had fast cars, ive had faster cars than most of the peeps on here so beleive me i do know a thing or two when i talk fast cars.

Yes a 2.0 standard nova with 150Bhp will not be slow but lets have a reality check here it aint fast either.

Oh and another thing there was no rinsing going on, im talking 3-4 car lengths over a length of road in which you can get to 120mph and the road where he stuck with ian is longer i would say down by truck world.

 

I doubt you'd get a nova down to 700kg's.
And a scooby will be more like 1300 (classic)

I had an Evo and a redtop Corsa, the corsa was 170 ish. Cam's, head work, raised rev limiter, exhaust etc etc. Evo was standard, the Evo was a fair bit quicker. Corsa was fully stripped.

Im beginning to think my engine wasnt as standard as I thought then. I must admit Ive been in a few Astras with XE's in since and they didnt impress me, I thought it was just after having cossies etc and bein used to faster cars.

The lad I bought the engine off said it had this and that done but I never believed him. The engine is now in another Astra and a few people say its quick as fuck for an XE, I might have to go and ask for a drive of it

I was down there last night & had a play wit an R32 Golf Turbo ! Was a quick car, but I liked what the guy said to me afterwards "can't believe you were spinnin through 3rd gear & STILL accelerating away from me" lol

Ian's 3dr is a tool, I think he quoted around 550/560hp Gt30, antilag etc etc - car is QUICK & very well built !

Now the Nova

He's a very good pal of mine, we went down there last night for a giggle & had a lil play wit a new RS4 we eventually baited to let ripp on the 25 - he wasn't too happy when both my shabby lookin saph flew past him & by a lil red Nova with carbon blah blah windows & a white cage ! got told off by Adrian (Nova owner) for callin the windows perspex !

It is indeed a 2 litre XE on Throttle bodies, with launch control & anything else you could possible have ! The car is QUICK ! His hasn't got NOS on it, doesn't really need it He has spent quite a bit on it, he loves it & uses it on track nearly every week at the mo !

He did do an Evo he told me bout & did manage to sit on Ian's bumper but they didn't have a propa run due to traffic etc !

Chip, you & Rob (Spanishfly) have heard bout this car cos I keep tryin to get Rob out to race him ! and the guy peeps is refering to wit the purple Corsa is Wayne (Chip you meet him @ Surrey meet months back). The Corsa run a 13.1 @ 110mph, but the cars no more, he's now got a moonstone 3dr wit a purple cage, runnin around 400hp & he can drive !

I'll ring him now & tell him bout this thread ! Cheers for the comments tho ! That Saph you done which was properly slow was probably mine !

ive owned both, at the same time, a standard ish my00 impreza and a proper stage 3 cossie which i still have, by proper i mean 60k car, fresh engine on 200 block, headwork, intercooler t34. 48, ap brakes etc etc, only a shite cossie (and there is plenty) would struggle with the scoob, round the ring it was a different matter, I've been for the last 6 years and the scoob was awesome, it just lacks power.

Have to agree with this to be honest, its all good to have a bit of friendly banter and its always tempting to race others but in an ideal world it should be proven on the track.
Love the sound of the nova by the way, and i have to agree if you can drive you can make a shit car quick. I know this cause in all theory there is no way a 1.8d standard escort van can beat a 106 with a 1.6 bottom end and a 1.3 head runnin on r6 bike carbs pushing out 135bhp is there???

Please tell the hundreds of other people that do it every single weekend. its happened for years and years and yes people have died in this area but it hasnt changed a thing.

That wasnt the point i was trying to make.

The point was which some people got was not to big up anything other than the Nova. It was excellent to see him beat all the cars he did and im sure ian was very very suprised.

Lets draw a line under this thread as its getting silly now. We have got the bottom of it as we now know the nova and know that it was nothing like standard (thanks JB). Once you start getting into whether people should be racing on roads youre gonna open a massive tin of worms and plenty of people will be getting the hob nobs ready lol.
