Default MPG of your van.......

Im looking into getting a couple of bigger vans, transit lwb or jumbo's.

Just wondering what sort of mpg these vans return? My combo gets 46-48mpg all day long. Obviously it will be much less than this but has anyone actually worked out properly what mpg they get.

If anyone has vans of a similar size/weight, then im interested to hear what you get too, as i may consider something else at this stage.

Cheers.

As VERY rough guide

I used to have a Transit Connect, a work mate used to have a bit Nissan van (n ot hightop version) its the one where loads of different companies make it, all the same shape.

We used to do pretty much same milage, both had to fill up every other day, and mine (at the time, last yr before prices shot up) took about £45 to fill, and his took about £75!!

i've got a transit 85/280 that does around about the 450 miles per 75 litres of diesel

it's also got a fridge on it that saps a whole heap of juice as it's never off

we also have a whole fleet of connects that do about 300 miles to a 55 litre filling

So the big transit does 27mpg and the connect only does 25mpg!

I know there both fridge vans but surely the connect should do much more than the big transit?

I was hoping they'd do around 35 mpg on a run if driving ecomoically?

Surely this has to be acheiveable?

Thats seems better, 35 mpg that works out at roughly (based on £1.30 a litre). What sort of driving is that mate, town, motorway or mixed?

Good point mate , but i can honestly say that i hardly ever thrash my van, and very rarely drive over the speed limit. You HAVE to try and drive economically these days with fuel prices.

Of course, you can always tell the white van men that dont have to pay for their fuel, cos their the ones that are always flying around like shumacher!
