Default How much to change from L6 to L8 ?

Hi

As above ?
I know I have to change the TPS and swop the two outer wires in the TPS connector.

But I've been offered an L8 that uses a chip for Knock sensor and
Lambda sensor.

WHAT about that then ??????????????????????????????????

Thanks for any input

Cheers Kennert

There were two versions of L8 - one for non-cat equipped 4x4's and one for cat-equipped 4x4's (with lambda control).

Cost of the chip and lambda sensor and wiring it - thats about it.
IMO - Forget about the knock sensor though !

Hi it dont matter which one and you dont have to use the lamda control or knock sensor....just dont use the chip!...Get another one for your spec.

You must use the PF09 TPS and swap the 2 outer wires round on the L6 loom

thanks guys

I've all ready got a lambda sensor in my down pipe, when I changed to
mongoose I welded a bong in the down pipe and build a led display and put that in the dash.
The lambda is a narrow band, will that be ok to run a wire from that to the new L8 in pin number ? in the ECU ?

Thanks guys

Cheers Kennert

Pin 2 is the lambda input. Depending on sensor type, you will need to supply an
additional ground (NOT FROM ECU) and switched +12 volts (NOT FROM ECU)
for the heater part of the sensor.
Also if it is a 4 wire sensor, the SENSOR ground (grey wire) needs to connect to
ECU pin 1

Thanks for replying Simon

The lambda sensor is one I've fitted myself, and it's a 2 wire, + and ground, no heater in that sensor. exclusive for the read-out led in the dash.

with the above mentioned just run a wire to pin 2 then ?
And mine is narrow band, is that ok ?

Cheers

kennert, Connect the sensor ground (Usually grey) to pin 1 on the ecu and
the signal (usually black) to pin 2.
Narrow band is the only sensor type that the L8 can cope with.
Good luck
