Just had sky round and apperently the trees behind my house are the problem - in all fairness they are totaly blocking line of sight.
The guys suggection was to put the dish on a 10 foot mast above the roof line!!!!
How is that gonna help? you move the dish about 1mm and it loses the signal - the wip on the end of a huge pole isn't going to help here!
Might have to try moving the dish higher up (to the apex of the roof from its current 8 foot up from the ground) and see if that works!

Can you not go with virgin cable or something like that?
Either that or i can burn the fucking trees down incognito style.

Hmmmmm, those tree's are fecking close i'll say that.
Why not have a word with someone in the other houses that join yours, see if they will let you use their wall to mount the dish on?

Alex, is there somwhere further down the garden, where you can get a clear line of sight for your dish, could you mount it there? ie on a pole in the ground, on a shed or fence and run a new cable?

i disagree - trees are not solid objects and the waves pass through them to some extent, particularly through the gaps, and the more that you can collect with a bigger dish, the better your chance of good reception.
obviously re-siting the dish is the best option though, or cut the trees

its not so much the tree thats normally the issue, it the water, damp, moisture, in the tree / on the leaves that causes the most signal issues

I have a question for any sky engineers...
I have sky plus had it for years and i need to upgrade to sky hd but i have a problem.
About every 2 weeks i cant record anything on another channel, When i do a signal test signal 2 is always 0. When i go to my dish the wire is always burnt Every single time. No matter how well i do the cutting of the cables and how neat i do it its always always burnt.
Really pissing me off ive done it about 10 times and running out of cable. The engineer just threw the cables over the top of my house i dont know if that make a difference.
Sky wont fit hd until its repaired which they will fix at a cost of course.
Hope someone can help
Cheers

alex i think your best bet is to speak to your neighbough about the tree, and it just needing a trim, tell them you'll get rid of any mess, pay costs etc

The trees are on a tiny bit of park land - and I can't see the council and the neigbours agreeing to chopping them down. Trimming them won't do a thing.
