You could have it remapped? Would be pricey just to burn mercs off lol. Throw stuff at them out the window, put them off. LOL

Remap it,
I love transits, got a shot of a 125 17 seater minibus one day, hit a button near the gearstick that i think turned the traction control off,
Did a full bore standing start on wet grass straight after that, made two sets of 11s about 50ft long on the grass
My boss was bent over laughing at me, and i was pishing myself laughing

they sent it up and it was only a 140ps, think it was because it was a launch model ford only badged it up as a 200ps as a display model then over the year someone thought it was a 200ps so i sent it back
but got a 200ps long wheel base coming now,
that will get me by till the new one comes (ford say it will be the end of the year)

My brother drives a 57 plate LWB 318CDI V6 Sprinter and that has been remapped to 230BHP, it flies and i know some cars have trouble keeping up never mind Transits!
I've had 3 transits myself in the past until i brought a 316cdi Merc in 2003. Had that remapped and since then always had a Sprinter as an owner Driver. Reliability/Performance and Build Quality won it for me which the Transit lacks in my opinion.

Andrew,
With you saying it was a twin wheeler, I thought you meant the 4.6 ton van. I only thought the chassis cab had twin wheel rear axle on the 3.5 ton van.
Jumbo,
Build quality on the previous shape Sprinter was awful regarding the body. The mechanicals seemed to be good apart from the odd few things but bodywise they were bad.
Last of the Mk6 Transits were pretty much bomb proof. Not much really went wrong on them from my experience of working on both.
Reliability and performance the Sprinter did have (if you bought the right one).
In fact, now I'm thinking about it, the new Sprinter body although better in a lot of respects doesn't seem too good! Glued together body seams that broke away/split from them if you leant on them!!

Transits are good if you run locally and don't do too many miles, but for european runs and long distance the sprinter wins hands down.
I know this running 4 transits and 5 sprinters daily.
Fuel wise the 318 runs excellent as the driver don't cane it everywhere, £100 to fill up and it does 520 miles to the tank.....the Remap has made a difference in overall running of the vehicle.
End of the day everyone to there own, some people are into transits, some sprinters thats just how it is!!!! As lond as it gets you about and you like it, who cares!!!
