A friend of mine is travelling to and through Scotland this month.
He owns a Mk3 XR3i and is searching for tuning parts - esp. rear lights (red/white) and engine parts / engine bay parts i.e. chromed parts.

Are there any shops in Scotland where he can buy and collect these parts ?
As he wants to check the parts before buying he needs a shop which has these parts in stock (without pre-ordering them).
On my trip to GB 5 years ago I was disappointed that none of the shops had any mk4 rear lights in stock (drove to Leeds just because of a shop who listed them).

Can anybody help and give me an advice and adresses ?

im sure people would be willing to help locate the parts and hold them for you. if you find them online and send them to someone to collect. i for one will gladly do it but im up in aberdeen where noone usually comes

which way you coming? ie driving all the way up, or getting ferry half way up then driving.

theres a Company called MAD, in the fast ford mag, up north, specialise in rsts.

canr remember where they are exactly, but they did have everything you could imagine last time i checked!

also if your driving all the way, id say the south, especially essex (the home of the rst) propably has a better pool of parts!


Also have you not tried ebay. do it all from the comfort of ur own home, the bits ur after are not exactly that rare!!

Thanks for your advices so far.

As far as I know they'll travel by ferry and approach South of Edinburgh.
Route will be Edinburgh, Glasgow, Inverness but they are flexible.

Ebay is the last option we/they want to take. Here in germany you often get only crap for Mk3/4

Mad For It were based in cornwall, I bought parts from them years ago. Unless a new company with the same name have started trading in Scotland.

well i did say i cant remember where they were. think they stoped trading anyway! cant find a number.

As above ebay isnt that bad, its just some of the tossers on there, but with things like lights you should be able to tell from a photo if they are ok or not!!

I can't even think of anywhere up here that sells second hand RS parts..? All the breakers seem to be down south.

Good luck but I think what some of the guys have offered is your best option, buy stuff on Ebay and get it sent to their address and collect from there.

when i reatored my 1949 beetle, i was buying parts from german and dutch ebay every week. postage was very reasonable.

bigest item was a rear bench seat and 4 steel wheels, only cost about Ł9 shipping

go on to ur ebay.de account, go to home page. at bottom there will be a community/world list click on ebay.uk and you can buy stuff from uk on ur german account!
