I have used Cubase.

However, I have no synths or processors anymore.

I remember a few years ago I had a program that I could use the keys on my pc keyboard to make the sounds and arrange the music, all on one program, it had a sound and beat bank built in.

Anybody got anything, something that is self contained in my PC rather than using external kit.

propellorheads reason mate,thisz has every thing soft synths samplers sequencer effects all built into 1.or if you want more loop based you could give abelton live, this also has every thing ,in the one box of tricks

Use Cubase VST, and get VST plugins, there are literally thousands of them, with every type of sound/synth you could ever wish for!
I also use Reason with it, but only for beats
