I would like to fix this this week as we have some free workshop time and I don't have any ideas where to start. Please help

not sure on this one; did you use the correct tool to line the clutch up correctly?

Yes sure. There is original tool in AP kit. All is lined-up correctly.

Before any more questions come up:

-the input shaft was gereased properly and the drive plate moves smoothly on it
-the release bearing is new and moves correctly
-the pressure plate was attached with original bolts and torqued according to manual

Defo sounds like clutch drag to me, did the plate run smoothly over splines and did the box hang for a while on the shaft before it slid home?

Our boys had some problems when fitting the box, but we check it all once again with the box out and everything is clean and runs smoothly, the aligment tool fits nicely and smoothly, I have no ideas how the fitment could be wrong.
