Escos Clutch problems
I have the car back on it's wheels but there is a problem with the clutch. I have had new AP Racing organic kit (from Mike R - thx Mike) fitted. I have standard clutch ratchet and original Ford cable. Anyway - even with pedal fully depressed you cannot shift into any gear when the car is running. What is even more strange when you start it in gear and drive the clutch is slipping!!!. Does anyone have any ideas? I have checked part numbers on the clutch driveplate and preassure plate and they are correct. I have the gearbox back out and all seams to be in order, does anyone have ideas or suggestions?

m8 not 100% correct on this but did you check or reset th self adjusting thing on th clutch padel!!
I have heard of this problem before with another customer, who was convinced I had supplied him with the wrong parts
.
From what I understand, the AP clutch has a lot more material on the drive plates than the original items, so it will not tolerate a stretched cable in any way shape or form. Also the ratchet has to be working exactly and be perfectly aligned.
After fiddling around with the cable and the ratchet, they eventually got the clutch to work, albeit with the clutch operating with only ½" travel from the floor. However, after a few months of use, the pedal travel increased nicely as the drive plate wore down and is now where it would normally be
.
Obviously this is typical of these type of clutches and is why I always recommend hydraulic actutation. However, you could always try one of these instead if hydraulic is too expensive

Mike the problem is that even with the part that releases the clutch (I am not sure what it is called) pressed against the gearbox casing by hand the clutch is not fully disengaged and at the same time it's still slipping with pedal released.
