The red one that was at the Ring that we were getting semi's over is 310bhp 2.5 litre and pushes GT3s around the track (8.14 IN TRAFFIC ) . He is now building a 2.7 litre engine for it that can be up to 420bhp in full DTM spec, but is going for a reliable 350bhp.
As to taking the piss for being slow - have you been in a standard Cossie lately .

dan, never own an escort, 4x4, shit slow at 350bhp, and destroys gearbox's and diff's at between 350-400hp.
There more tempromental that 3dr mate, plus i would have to spend ALOT to get anything near the condition my 3dr is, what do you think a near concourse 30-40k mile escort would go for? 20k+? not for me thanks mate.
At that price tag i would be looking elsewhere pronto.

Me too mate, I agree, we had this convo at Ford Fair last year looking at you know who's car...
Only way i'll own an Escos is if I can build one from scratch regardless of cost
Skyline for me towards the end of the year I think if i'm honest, the way i'm feeling at the moment, but then that could change in the blink of an eye! Damn Cossie's!

The only thing that would put me off having a big power NA engine again is you have to work them SO hard to get anywhere, especially in comparison to a turbo engine.
However you cant beat the sound of a properly revvy atmo engine

They look awesome, but the problem is you just can't get cheap power upgrades from them! No chip and injectors to get to 330bhp, it would take thousands to get there.
When Tiff tested one on Fifth Gear, wasn't it slower round Anglesey than a new Fiesta (not sure which model - possibly an ST). You are paying a hell of a lot just on looks for one! I'm not sure they will hold that kind of value either.

I think its a bit unfair testing a 100k+ old car against a brand new one lol
Those ST's are impressive though.
My mates red one has a 270-280hp unit going in it, all steel, Nick Waples head, carbon inlet etc.. lets not go into costs.

Standard or modifed Porkie ?
Personally its LEAGUES ahead of any Saph or Escort from a handling point of view, it just lacks the power.
We done a airfield trackday in Watton once with my mates nigh on standard Cecotto, NOTHING could even touch it when we got into the twisties, that included 2 evos a and 350hp Escort Cos, hugely impressive car considering handling wise its only got a set of Bilsteins on it

E30 M3 with a 3.2 Evo engine would be savage, I can't see it being that awkward to do as I looked into fitting a 535 lump into a 325 once and it wasn't go to be much of a task to do.

Dont you think you would lose the originality of the car Dan, couldnt see it making as much as the all original ones. Its like putting a Focus RS engine in my 3door and expecting it to be worth the same money
