Default Dizzy retard question

My mate has fitted twin turbos to a 2.9 v6,he got himself a micro dynamics boost retard box but its not compatible with the ford ecu.

So he's stuck atm,i had the idea of using a boost pressure switch which he has,and is adjustable and switches to earth to control the ecu retard octane wires which are found on most ford ecu's if i remember you can earth either one or the two wires to obtain retard

CAN this be used to get him out of the S**t for the mo????

or any other ideas would be helpfull

Paul

Cheers Stu,extra fuel is coming from two cold start injectors mounted on the throttle body switched via the boost switch aswell

You could move the CPS position to retard, then use a WOLF N3D spark advance unit to get back correct, cutting power would let it drop back again, maybe power it through a micro switch on the throttle ?

The beauty of the WOLF is that it is so adjustable from 2 degrees up to 54 degrees, in 2 degree increments, so might be better for fine tuning ?

Can only at max get another 6 degrees of retard will this be enough??by earthing the two octane wires to earth via a pressure switch
The car will only run a max of 8 psi atm with a shed load of fuel aswell

so imo i think it will be safe enought till he gets a proper ecu?? if the dizzy is mechanically moved to give more retard can that work ??

Any more suggestions will be great

Ta

might be enough paul, but you'll only know by checking

a friend of mine runs a pinto 2.0 efi with a t3 on it in a mk1 transit tipper and uses a pressure switch to ground out the octane adjusters on that and it works well without det.

the 2.9 has quite low compression ratio as std doesn't it?

intercooling is very important though, the cooler the charge, the better chance it has of not detting with only that much retard.

give it a go using super unleaded, what's the worst that can happen? it's only a boat anchor anyway

I think so Nick he also has low comp heads aswell and two coolers 14" x 8" for each turbo which are T2 also runs super anyway!!

So should be ok we will have to see

Cheers

My mistake the unit is made by AEB. re Italy
Called a TIMING ADVANCE PROCESSOR, "wolf n" MOD BREVATTATO.
I have just changed ISP's to plusnet, not quite sure how to do piccies but PM me your email and I will send you a few piccies of the unit.
