you can if your dv has a strong spring, it will stay closed at low boost and chatter...

Trouble is people confuse 'chatter' as found on external waste gates with compressor surge or stall as found in this case. You'll get both if the dump valve either cant keep up with the amount of boost thats trying to escape thru it or as said previously, if the spring is quite hard. In theory, compressor stalling is very bad and on high boost cars it can shatter an impellor shaft...altho no doubt many people on here will now say they've done it since their old man first started working down the pit and it aint blown yet blah blah lol

for more tish, fit a dv with a weaker spring, that opens to vent the boost as soon as you lift off....

a stronger spring will keep the dv closed for a bit when you lift off, and you get chatter as the air comes back through the air filter

imo chatter is bad....sending compressed air the wrong way through your turbo compressor cant be a good thing ...

In theory no but surely it depends on application really?

Do Stu/Karl recommend a DV on a T34 Cossie?

TEV has both on a GGR DV, good units but a strong spring and decent strong diaphragm will cause this. A week spring and soft diaphragm will dump easier but ultimately more likely to leak.

i run a t34/35 and no dump valve and though i agree with the above that in theory sending air in the oppisite direction it was designed to go stu @ msd reliably informed me that on the above said turbo no harm will come to it.
