safes for home use, fixing to wall
any recomendations? i see they do floor board ones but to be honest they dont seem safe enough to be
to be honest i think im gonna buy a used item from ebay etc, there are some proper vintage stuff that weighs a few hundred kg but room is a no no
i need somin compact, so it will have to be fixed to a wall very securely and obviously hidden
id spend a hundred or so.
just thought id ask as ya never know someone on here might do em for a living lol
any advice on this?

the ones fitted under floorboards then covered with carpets will be as safe as you need it to be unless you are planning to hide large items. if no one knows its there its as safe as houses.

it all depends on how deep your walls are
we collected an old safe form a shop that weighed nearly 300 kgs and was only about 18" square and about 2 foot deep for free, but they go for around Ł300
20 combination key locked means that it took us around 6 months on and off to open it up
if you want something like that then you will have to find someone willing to fit it for you
if you want just a normal "remove a brick and bolt the safe in2 version then they are much easier to just rip out of the wall

just make sure you remember that where ever you put it, it cant get flooded.
It happened to a mate, he lost every piece of paperwork due to an inch of water. All turned to mush, all his life insurance doc's, home ins docs the lot.
He had a cock of a job to replace it. Even had all the shit for his house abroad in it

putting it into the floor means digging a big hole and making sure the safe is waterproof etc
most safes now are foreproof as well but some of them have glass bits in them that will cause the safe to lock up if it reaches a certain temprature, to stop someone pinching the bits inside if the house burns down
first of all find out what mods you can do to the house and what it's built from, if it's just a new build full of pasterboard then a free standing safe of mega proportions might be the best thing to buy, just hide it as some sort of furniture and don't boot it if you get pissed off

its a 1930's house, well built, i do have a location in th house i feel would be good to put a small one, then obv i would need to fix it to a wall i presume bolt some how, maybe loads of gripfill behind so when tightened squidges out the edges, thought it might stop someone from getting a lever bar etc inbetween wall and safe

go to a safe shop, they wil lprobably be best to give you advise as to the sort of safe that will meet your requirements
but bolting it "onto" the wall isn't really ideal as they would probably be needed to be bolted "into" the wall

ive actually just got a good idea
get a big bit of plate rectange size and weld the safe to the plate then bolt the plate to wall but what bolts? ten i would weld the bolts to the plate, sounds quite secure to me and cheap easy to do as i have a welder
so what bolts would you use? i presume the ones that open up? we used similar to fit our two bost ramp int he workshop few months ago are smaller versions of these ok in brick?

you need to bolt from inside the safe otherwise it could just be un bolted from outside. Just get yourself an old safe, Ł200, weight about 100 kg and it aint going no where, unless you tell someone you have cash in there and your not in the house for a few days.

this would be bolted from the outside yes but id weld the nuts to the bolts, only way to get em off would be to cut them off
atleast with a bracket i could use bigger bolts and the safe welded to the bracket i would think would be fine as the safes seem to me 3mm minumum on outer casing, could get some lovely weld on that
only reason i keep posting is incase anyone knows of a easier way or a safe hat alreay comes with a bracket etc
