i'm looking to buy a PS3, but should i bother paying through the nose for a 60gb one? or stick with getting a 40gb?
i'd prefer the backwards compatability, as my PS2 is on its last legs i think!
any info would be great^^ thanks!!

Ask yourself a question. Why would you wanna play PS2 games on a PS3? Maybe the odd 1 that you really love, but thats about it! Is it worth £200 to play 1 game? As stated above you could buy a new PS2 for £100 and a PS3 for £300, so cheaper than the 60GB...
Ive played 2 PSone games on my 60GB PS3 since I brought it a year or so ago and would sell it for profit to get a 40GB PS3, but knowing my luck I would get a faulty 40GB and have nothing but hassle

Go to Gamestation. They regularly have pre-owned 60GB for sale and they'll give you a years guarantee as well. Normally do really good deals as well with some pre-owned games. Don't buy one off Ebay as they are over inflated and you'll have no come back.

personally I would get a new 40gb PS3 and then get another PS2.
I wouldnt bother with the cross compatibility stuff, it doesnt really work on the xbox 360.
You can upgrade the hard drive in the 40gb to whatever size you want by either using a laptop drive or SATA cable into an external hard drive. So what that you dont get a multi card reader built in... do you really need it on a PS3? If you really want that feature then buy an external usb one.
Oh and if you want to play GTA4 then dont get the 60gb

Thats exactly what I did. Bought a 60gb when they first came out, never played any PS2 games on it, so sold it for more than I paid, and bought the 40gb one.
Can get silver slimline PS2 in new condition for £30. No need for backwards compatibility. Hard drive size is unimportant as it can be changed easily. Card readers are easy to get hold of and so are USB hubs, so no real advantage to the 60gb one. For me anyway

Apparently, according to lots of gaming websites, lots of 60gb PS3 are having problems with the game crashing. Funny enough I just spoke to my sisters bloke who has the 60gb and he hasnt had any problems.

I have the 40gb but it wont connect GTA online unless I hard wire it.... All other games work fine wireless
