Castrol Mag 5w-30 or 10w-40 in mine.

Ford recommend 5-30, ive just changed mine, and thats what i used.

Cool thanks. any ideas why mine is pinking/ detonating?? from 3k revs if I stick my toe down??

use normal unleaded but will try super and see what happens. I recently had it plugged into fault diagnostics machine just for peace of mind and it came back with nothing.
How much oil does it take??

Takes about 5 and a half litres fella. i got 6 litres, and by the time it was at full on the dipstick, i had about a half a litre left.

My mate had that prob when he had his chipped now he runs it on super and all is fine

Ford designed it to run on shit fuel. If it's pinking on shit fuel and it's not chipped there's something wrong that needs fixing not covering up with expensive fuel.

Mine did it for a bit in the early days, think it was some crap super market fuel. Only use shell now, and it ain't hardly any dearer than asda.
Could be carbon build causing it if the motor only ever does short journeys ??

Well just filled up with super unleaded as I dont know the history of ther car I bought it trade, It has had some mods to the car and suspension and does go better than a mates ST24 so who knows it may have been chipped??

You can set the fuel setting in the ECU, mine was left blank when a mate from Ford checked it. He set it to 95ron. I have no idea what this alters & it was ok before & no different after.
If its been chipped they may of set it for 97 + maybe.See how u get on with Super.
