Its because you are going to work. If you had something awesome planned you would bounce out of bed

I rarely wake up during the night... so reckon its because Im a heavy sleeper

but yeah, maybe its because I know I have to get on a packed train every morning

Westy - there is no recommended amount.

All that you should know is that it's healthy to sleep in multiples of 90 minutes - i.e 6 hours, 7.5 etc... It's to do with the certain sleep cycles. I have an article I'll upload in the morning.....

8-10hrs usually.

All depends, due to working shifts my body clock is a bit fucked up, can finish anywhere between midnight and 6am. But if I goto bed and get up too early, I can't guarantee that I'll be 100% the next night if I'm working on to 6 with a defect, hence I usually try to make sure I am well rested. Can't be half asleep when you are working on/certifying an aircraft that'll be carrying 300 odd people the next morning!

If I'm up early though for whatever reason, I'll try and grab 90mins before work - as PON mentioned, 90mins = 1 sleep cycle, wake up half way through a cycle and you'll feel more shagged than you were before you went to sleep

I can't sleep at night , I am at work at 8am and I'm still up, but I could sleep all day quite happily .. Pisses the mrs off, thinks I am nocturnal, and all my mates take the piss if I turn up anywhere before 4pm ... I love working nights as well, just cannot stand getting up in the morning, it's horrid

I can quite happily sleep for 12 hours a pop, as normally when I work days I have to be in work for 7am, so its a 6.15am start, and I rarley go to bed before 3-4am, if at all.

I've never really counted but do I know in the summer mine gets less and less as I don't like sleeping when its light outside. I don't like sleeping during the days normally unless, I'm that tired I fall asleep more or less on the spot

last night, 5.5
the night before, 5
the night before that, 9
etc, etc
seeing as i've got to be at work for 6 in the morning to open up it all depends on when i go to sleep rather than when i go to bed
