Never used a cheap nasty gasket so dunno. Get it lowered properly by having the pistons bowled...or the head volumised

gav you use ahmed dont you!? i know someone that put one of those plates in to lower there comp and he was advised by ahmed to do it. The car as far as i know runs ok with around 19-20psi through it and 7000rpm limiter.

I am pretty sure Ahmed wouldn't advise using a spacer plate however given the circumstances with the person your talking about he really had no choice as money and time were more important I am assumming.

Thanks - Sunny.

There's a full feature being done by Performance Ford next month on Ferriday Engineering which includes a comprehensive write up about their copper head gaskets.

We'll have to wait and see what it says.

Ask yourself whether his idea was based on knowing that the engine builder couldn't take it all apart again and pay for new pistons, building costs etc + the time to start over again. LOL

he was in the same situation as gav is rite now where he has taken off as much as he could off the piston in order for them to still be strong enough to use, so the only other way to lower it more without taking the engine apart was for a decompression plate to be used which was suggested by ahmed!!! both gav and this other guy were in the same boat hence why i've suggested to gav ahmed shouldn't have a problem as he also uses him.

Hardeep this wasn't the recommended route by Ahmed as I know the car ur talking about. Due to time and money there was no other alternative and thats why this route was taken. The pistons had been machined to the same level as Gav's.

However, to answer Gav question the copper should work fine, but the recommended method would be to use shorter rods.
