I am pretty sure Ahmed wouldn't advise using a spacer plate however given the circumstances with the person your talking about he really had no choice as money and time were more important I am assumming.

He was the one who came up with the idea, i was very surprised he did though.
Ask yourself whether his idea was based on knowing that the engine builder couldn't take it all apart again and pay for new pistons, building costs etc + the time to start over again. LOL
