Default I think Ford will not do a Rs like the old cossies were

who thinks the same as me with ford ..... i really think they have gone down hill since the escort cos finished ..........they got nothing to offer us..

I was planing on buying a Focus 4wd cosworth if they was to bring one out but looks like it's never going to happen .....

what the fook is wrong with them is that all they think about family cars

I really hope that sales drop now that they are leaving motorsport proper w*****s

ford suck

the FRS no offence, but it isn't my cup of tea ...all it is a modern day Rst ...

when you look at it ok ....it looks nice but once you have seen one you have seen them all .....ford bring out a 200+ FWD car in the same price bracket as an evo 330 bhp or a sti scooby ......

in the states they bring out the Focus SVT V8 Rwd i would be intrested in one of these ...they look the same as the Rs verison but with V8 i think they are about 350 bhp standard

It's down to profit. Ford make huge bucks from the Focus 1.6, Mondeo or even the sheet Ka, but a road going WRC car is limited market especially as the Japs have that one sewn up. I really can't see them bringing out a proper car again, maybe a fat bloated V6 thing but certainly not anything resembling a Cossie. After all the M badge has already gone to a better car

agree with eil132 ford only want toe make profits and bringing out another cossie or RST will only appeal 2 a fraction of theyre market which means they have limited potential for profits. why make only a few million Ł profit when u can make a few billion Ł

If the company was interested in the UK market for sport they would not be selling jaguar racing and cosworth marco....and the fact they aint entering with any real threat in the WRC either.

The RS has really been dead since homologation ended with the GRP A Escort Cosworth.

Ford have shafted us all but its the amercians fault ! (Sorry Eric)

The european part of Ford makes money but the Yankie part does not so
they are draining money from one to hold up the other.
NOT F**KING FAIR

R.I.P. ----> WRC, ST, RS, F1, JAGUAR, COSWORTH

Don't be sorry Simon, Marco, your wrong dude, that V8 kit anyone with a focus can buy it, they don't come from Ford.
In my Merkur Forum the same shit has been said and it's even worse for us cossie lovers...we NEVER got them, or anyother RS!!!
Not only that, Ford has pulled the plug on the SVT Focus (ST 170) and now I hear they're going to pull the plug on the Lightning as well. So It's Ford in General's fault. Some of the peeps are saying you want a luxury Ford? buy a Jag, want a fast Ford? buy a Mazda! WTF! Sure Ford owns them, but where is Ford's own identity!!! they Brought over the focus to combat the Honda's CRX's and the sorts..It was a little to late. You couldn't spit over here without hitting anything made in Japan! Ford USA has let us down too boys. Chrylser(owned by Mercedes) has been doing what Ford should be! 500hp trucks to combat the Lightning! Vipers, 300C(pimp mobiles) SRT neons(the car not the lights! ) Ford...if it wasn't for the RS, i'd be obsessing over the Skylines/Evo's

ford

Jap Crap has now become one of those stupid sayings imo as the Japs are leading the way of decnet proper sports cars, despite what you think of them the Evo's Scooby's etc p!ss all over the value of any ford.

Compare what you get for your money and the Jap car will be newer and with far better technology.

ok, ford, if they eventually bring it out, the next generation focus st is currently being developed with i belive a 2.5 turbo which is basically one of the volvo engines. this will push out in the region of 240-250bhp, outstripping the current focus rs.

the new focus rs, again if ford decide to bring the bugger out, will more then likely be based in the same catagory as evo's and scoobies, so about 300bhp and four wheel drive.

the focus rs that ford produced they lost a little on each car, as they were built on a standard production line. this meant the wider wheels wouldn't fit in the runners of the line, so standard wheels were put on. the same goes for the sparco seats, the robots had trouble picking these up, so standard seats were put in.

after all this the car was moved to a sorta warehouse where people manually put the wheels and interior in and removed the standard stuff robot had installed.

we live and hope for a proper rs or cosworth or similar

Agree marco, didn't Ford promise a 300bhp+ 4wd car and then only deliver the FRS

I don't reckon you'll ever see anything like the Escort/Sapphire/3dr Cosworths again, all that motorsport and heritage that they used to be involved in......BTCC, Rallying, Saloon car chamionships, F1.

Now they have a half decent Tarmac spec Focus rally car and a half baked Formula 1 team that is up for sale......

Ford used them when they were an independent company, so the only chance of there ever being another Ford Cosworth was if they kept hold of the brand(they ain't gonna use Audi who own the technology for an engine are they?)

erm... who would like to buy such bigpowered Fords anyway in these very bad economic days/times? Just a few people like most of us who are in love with big bhp powered cars but NOT all the other peoples who drives their car from point a to point b and that's it.

all those peoples want cars with less fuelconsumption and less taxes, services etc. etc.

so Ford is going for the biggest category of people, those who are driving their cars from point a to point b

TBH I've never seen so many high powered cars on the road before. Look at Scoobs, prices are very steady, as are Evo's, Supras, M3s, etc. Ford are going for the easy option and feel no need to have a show boat brand as they did with the RSs. People will continue to buy rust buckets no matter if there are any full on cars in the line up. Times as you said have changed and Ford realise the competition is too fierce to stand out in the crowd anymore with the Jap stuff that's about. They also know kids will buy and tune there Kas, Focuses and Fiestas even with a 1.3 engine, so why bother doing it in the first place? The Japs have won I'm afraid.

The manufacturers here have it spot on I think. Ford and dare I say it "Holden" both very good looking and quick cars. Not only are the whole range affordable but they look really good and go well.

Was talking to someone who works for ford works department and there is a new focus in the pipeline.

When the new model focus comes out they are going to produce a model with the same spec as the current RS, same engine, interior, brakes etc etc.

There will then be a higher speced focus released with a higher spec, possibly 4x4 turbo.

Could all turn out to be just chinese wispers though

Totally disagree with both the above quotes.

Why if ford were concentrating on the bigger market would they have this time last year set up a dedicated RS department???
