Default Insurance question

If you know someone that ownes a car that isnt insured,if your covered fully comp and it states on your insurance that you can drive any car not owned by yourself you would be covered to drive it on your policy,or does the said car need to have its own insurance??

You WILL get stopped by the 5-0 as will show as uninsured, as said above though its the grey area that sometimes is in small print

the vehicle that you are driving needs to be insured at some point
then your police will compensate the other insurance company if you have an accident whilst driving that car under your police

should that be allowed

This is exzactly what a mate of mine did a few years ago now but he bought a mini, got insured fully comp and left it in his garden then bought a cossie put it in his dads name and drove that instead,he got stopped by the police and they took him to court over it and it got thrown out of court because it stated on his insurance that he could drive any car not belonging to him, didnt mention the other car having to be insured.

My other half was stopped whilst driving the brother in law's car... he had told us it was insured by him but a cock up at the insurance, meant that it wasn't. Of course for a full 7 days, he was thinking he was gonna get the book thrown at him when he produced, but they told him he was okay to drive the uninsured car.

The other car does NOT hvae to be insured, UNLESS your policy staets it .
I drove my mates UNINSURED car to the MOT station with him sat beside me, after he checked my insurance was valid, so thier is proof, as he is a traffic cop, and his rusty old banger MGB failed the MOT!!

Yep, but don't tell Porkie, he rang my insurance company to prove me wrong....
Even though they, Flux, and someone else all said I could.
My policy asks for no insurance on the other car.
Only issue you have is leaving it parked on the road, as it's no insurance without you in it.
