If you go to your nearest DVLA office they will do it for you there and then, you can then put your number on a retention certificate which will cost you £25 per year,

If you were just putting it on retention, which "two" cars are you talking about

It's £80 each time you wanna transfer the plate to another vehicle - both need to be taxed/MOT'd I'm sure.

If you're taking it off one car and putting it on retention, it's £105. This is the £25 retention fee, plus the £80 up front for transferring to the next vehicle. That's what I paid last year, and then this year I've just paid the £25 for retention for another year.

So basically, when I eventually put it onto my next car, I don't need to pay anything.

yes they have to be taxed and mot'd

i bought an irish plate through an irish number plate broker, turns out the owner of the plate had no mot and it took months because their car was knackered and cost a fortune to get it tested lol

Cheer's mate

Just needed to know because we are selling the Series 2 but need to take my wifes personalised plate of it and put it on to our new car when we pick it up so will have both cars here but only one will be insured.
