I personally would keep the saph. if its as good an example as people say then it will always be worth a good amount.
Yes evo's are excellent cars, they drive well and many people on here will sing its praises. fast, reliable etc.
If you dont mind the road tax shafting, how much you use the car will decide if you think its worth paying.
I may respect its abililty, but i would never buy one as they leave me cold. something about them just doesnt tick all the boxes for me

If you're the same as me, you'll sell it and get something that you think is superior, and you'll have fun with it for a while, then realise the Ford is a more iconic classic car and want another. And I know this happens and has happened to a lot of other people.
I had a really mint, and I mean really mint, it had only done 3k miles, VX220 and it was great fun, in fact for handling virtually nothing could touch it, but I just kept hanking back to the old Fords. Even though they can be trouble you can personalise them more and everyone notices them and loves them. And I'm currently thinking about it again!

what do you want, a really fast reliable common car, or a nice weekend car for playing about with. id have a saph over an evo if it was just for weekends and shows/meets!
RS's are special evos just arnt.

The next time your cossy breaks down you'l regret not getting the Evo.
The Evo is more "refined" so it will feel slower.
I raced a saph cos in my old evo. And pulled on it in a line and massively around corners and braking. But when i went in his car it felt a hell of a lot quicker!

Why do so many people use PassionFORD.com when all they do is bitch and moan about Fords? ???? fuck off to MLR and suck each other off on there, leave this place to ford enthusiasts..
Yes I have got 2 Cosworths, Yes I have been in Evos, NO I don't want one.

Bought an EVO and i very much ever doubt i'd want to own Another '4x4' Cosworth they just don't compare not for fast road use!
I'm more than happy with my Evo it goes very very well and is far more enjoyable than the saph where i live

erm a 450bhp saph would beat a 450bhp evo in a straight line. granted the evo will around bends but i prefer straight lines..
iv driven both.. and i love my saph.. feels more of a car then the evo.
iv got that much love for the cossie badge that im building up a mean escos and looking for a minty mint 3 door

hello everyone, i bought matts saff ,and have to say the car is absolutely the bollox.everyone that sees it loves it even the scooby and evo friends i have .the spec is awsome,as is the paint and the interior[i will get some fresh pics up soon].however i bought it for summer use with maybe 1-2k a year and would probably find it hard to use as a every day car.this is my fifth cossie and mark my words it will never ever ever be sold.i would like to take this oppurtunity to thank matt for selling me this car and being a top bloke, the car was as describedwhich is all u can ask when buying a car.best of luck mate with the evo as they are a awsome car and hope u enjoy your time with it[ps the saff will not be for sale in 6 months when u crave another rs lol.

Not so, the saph may win at Brunters but under road conditions the EVO's shorter gears would see you chasing a dot in the distance im afraid.
The saph is now a near 20 year old outdated icon the EVO is where its at as regards a fast road car. Im too old to change now but the EVO is a far superior car in all respects

thanks very much for those kind words james glad your enjoying the Saph it is a top car
As for the Evo its in a different league as i use it nearly everyday and its just so much easier to live with + mine is only 1 of 2 gunmetal Grey MR Evo's in my local area so it not like theres loads about.
It hasn't yet failed to impress me it handle the B-roads around here far far better than the Saph even did or even would, so as a drivers car it exactly what i want, the only time i'd get back into a Saph is if it was a hugh power 2wd then i might be tempted back
