I use http://audacity.sourceforge.net/ all i do is play the video and record it then convert it to mp3

It's actually very easy 
Go to youtube, find the video you want. Copy the URL in the address bar
Go to this site - http://keepvid.com/
Paste the URL of the YouTube page into it, follow the prompts and download the video to your desktop. DOWNLOAD THE FLV version not the MP4
Then use this programme;
http://www.videohelp.com/tools/FLV_Extract
Drag the flv file you downloaded into it, tick the box to extract audio and perform task. Simple. You now have an MP3 version of whatever you downloaded.
Simple
Go to youtube, find the video you want. Copy the URL in the address bar
Go to this site - http://keepvid.com/

do it all the time, that is download vid's from youtube, but not to put them onto a cd and listen to them in the car of the van or the like
