I'm after a cheap runaround and have found both of these for under £2k.
Does anyone know anything about these cars, major watch points, etc?

306 all day long...
Common and easy to service and use... engine is bullet proof if you keep it topped up with oil and dont let it run low.
The dodgy lock on one turn is a pain..
Watch out for dodgy door electrics.
Other than that go for it.

just went to look at a gti6......................
drove it and it felt slow like a diesel
then started to knock at high revs after 10mins driving
when we got back after driving at 2mph it was a brass band at idle
this car had done 90k so highish miles but still a little scary if id bought it a week earlier
fast cars when there good tho

Both great handling cars, watch out for dodgy electrics as theyre both french.
i used to have a clio 16v with williams engine transplanted years ago, was a crackin car, nice to drive, quick'ish, handled lovely on coilovers, gearbox's seemed ot be a bit of a weak point, engine never skipped a beat in the 50k miles i thrashed it for.
Personally i'd go for the Williams, smaller car and lots better looking, also a bit of a classic imo.
