What Oil for a YB and where from?

NO proper evaluation of data to say Mobil 1 is inferior has been presented.
Madrods tests didn't include Mobil, andf one of the oil was tested on a new engine that is likely to have a different ipact on it as the engine is bedding in to normal conditions.
I have nothing againts Silkoline or Castrol either.
One reply details an oil thinning (drop in pressure) as you would expect with increasing temperature, and another says this is not always bad with respect to engine protection.
I understand that the actual molecular breakdown of an oil will be an issue as you then have different physical characteristics of the oil, which reduces the engine protection.
Different interpretation of experiences leads to differing opinions. And i donn't believe any of the mentioned oils are as terrible as some like to make out.

Cos i don't believe there has been a side by side comparison of these oils, under experimental conditions.

I have used castrol, mobil and now silkolene in my engine.
oil pressure was best with the castrol as you would expect, as for usage it seemed to like drinking the Mobil.
Silolene is doing the job and seem to be the best as an actual performance oil judging by people who have done any kind of tests.

Interesting read, will give the Silkolene a try next oil change.Regarding Castrol RS vs Mobil1 Motorsport I also gained pressure after switching to the RS. When warm and at tickover there quite a big difference in oil pressure. Mobil was below the recommended pressure and Castrol stays way above. They must have put concrete in it to make thicker.

so silkoliene pro s is the one to go for then?
ive used castrol before, and on hard runs i can pull up and my tappetss would sund like a 1.3 hcs engine lol
havnt tried mobil 1 and was going to try it next but if the silkoliene is better ill go for that

Euan, the pro-r is normally 15-50 & is the older oil in the range, the pro-s is normally 10-50 & is a later oil, both very good, i use the pro-s 10-50 in my my car & most other scoobs & evos, we normally sell oil, oil filter & sump washer for £45 all in, thinking we may be to cheap

my engine has been built for a couple of years now and has had a very hard life, i used to use a cheeper end oil however after trying a sumps worth of pro r 15/50 i couldnt believe the cold running noise difference and my turbo useage halved, i now only kill a turbo once a year!, the pro r i have found handles high temps for longer and lasts rather than once its get hot hot its tossed. I also found that it halved the oil top ups, but i did notice a large drop in hot oil pressures, however after reading this i m not bothered at all now, also the pro r is a lovely blood red colour!

right, just checked my oil and it seems very thin after the over fueling incident.
Went to possilby buy some more pro S and its shot up in price
