Test drove my new car on saturday...
Don't laugh ,it was a Toyota prius as a general runaround my evo 9 is hardly a practical run around mpg is shite
15 quid per annum in road tax 67 mpg
and boy are they ugly but technically very clever
should I buy one can't bring myself to parting with the money
could i be having a midlife crisis lol
should i tint the windows so I won't be recognised

Testing the future
as above, the actual fuel economy that people seem to get is generally regarded as being less than the manufacturers quoted figures and can be rivalled by a small tdi (but then the vehicle is smaller)
if you want a hybrid, get the honda civic - not half as ugly as the toymota

you'd probably be better off with a small diesel, (mates just got a 1.5 clio tdi and loves it) i cant imagine how much a prius is to service? or if something went wrong with the motor it could cost serious money!
ditto on the Toyota aygo, something silly like 60k service intervals!

Too many posts.. I need a life!!
You'll never get above 60mpg, ever! As people have said there are diesels out there doing better. however that is cheap road tax.
Good luck saving the world though

Saving the world?!!
Apparently from an article I seem to remember seeing, during it's life, the Prius will have done more damage to the environment that a 1600cc petrol car mainly due to the high amount of pollutants caused by manufacturing it and disposing of it at the end of it's life.
I'll see if I can find it again.

I have a tree hugging prius lol
the purchase of this sad vehicle is purely of a selfish nature road tax is currently 15 quid next year it is 0
it is also the size of a van and most of my driving is stationary in a traffic jam, the evo 9 I have doesn't even have folding rear seats unlike my old sapph and is therefore useless albeit very sexy and slightly faster than the prius lol
