The only mod ive seen that gives real gains was Andys 'snow plough'.
The prob is their aint too many that have reached these speeds to find out what happens & yet I see a fair few experts are posting on this thread. Try it before you knock those that have.

i don't get the point in removing half the car or tapping it all up, just to gain a few mph. Maby when these top speed runs happen the cars should run as they would on a normal day.
edit only just seen rods reply so maby its done more for safety rather than performance.

imho the cars should run as they would on the road to an extent.
but i see there point in wipers etc and things bending and breaking so it would be pointless running if this is what would happen if you left them.........anyway i think mr gallacher has made a right cunt out of alot of people who have been trying for years to do the speeds hes done on a first attemp and with a track orrientated car and you cant help but notice constant little digs about the cone.lol imho id say thats the cossie most would say was the best around!!!
anyway congrats mad yum the car looks and sounds amazing

Think we have very different views on this.
Do film trailers make less people go to the cinema?
when books are serialised in national papers before they are released does this affect sales?
No.. its done to increase them. It creates interest in them...
Autocar magazine run FREE videos and stuff online of the stuff thats in their mags...
You say about your loyal readers? well ALOT of them are on here, and keeping the results just pisses them off I think as it alienates them a bit in my opinion as it pushes them outside the VAST amount people on here that DO know!
Part of me really wants to post the results but I won't as I like you and like PF... just think you are getting this all wrong.
Posting the figs makes everyone on here feel part of it, makes you guys look like the 'into the scene guys' that you are and it creates anticipation and excitement for the feature and the behind the scenes info and pics of the day that we will get when we WILL buy the mag...
This post just creates bad feeling I think...
P.S you mentioned The future mags. Well they all post results before mags are released as far as I am aware! and if they don't I would give them shit as well.

Helen was hard on it through 1st/2nd/3rd/4th but when she changed into 5th it was just before the brow, so she could only see a couple of hundred yards in front, the brow is really gradual but its still enough to stop you seeing the other side, she just had a mental block with nailing it in 5th when she couldnt see her braking zone at all, which TBH given that she has never been passenger up there as far as im aware, is a pretty sensible way to be, fair play to her for giving it a try though and she made up for 5th by properly chucking it round a couple of the corners at the top afterwards, so I think maybe she was slightly annoyed at herself really, so I reckon she'll be back at some stage for another go as Ive never had her down as someone who gives up, I think next time she should sit in on a 180mph or so run just to show here where to brake etc

I noticed from your pics Dave that you removed the lower splitter and taped up all the gaps..
Stupidly I made several errors..
I ran with my splitter fully exteneded (same spec as track)
I used wider tyres
I didn't run the Escos under tray (did you?)
I didn't tape up any gaps...
I made one other mistake that I don't want to disclose
Maybe all the above add up to 2/3mph?,..
I also have an 800hp turbo on the shelf begging me to fit it and cancel retirement and go again

The getting carried away with the tape was my fault, I was bored and just figured it might help so I started doing it everywhere while I was waiting for dave to start the runs, I dont actually know if it did any good or not, but I figured it wouldnt do any harm.
While on the subject of mistakes in terms of competitiveness though, Dave's 0-60 and 0-100 runs were done on 18" goodyear eagle tyres, exactly as he ran it for top speed, and he still had 40psi in the tyres till I made him drop them (which seemed to help by about 1/10th of a second) I think people seeing the times will be pretty gobsmacked it managed them on those tyres, Id imagine it would have been noticeably quicker on the 888's most people would run, so it would be nice to see him go back and have a proper shot at doing those acceleration tests with the tyres changed to something more suitable for it.

Should of taken the Comps with the 888's but ran out of room as they are so wide

Just guessing
Personally though I do not care enough to buy the magazine

I thought that the car was expected to break 200 MPH this time and the fact that ROD says it did close to what was expected suggests that it never reached what what was expected... I would say somewhere is the high 190's possibly 198 or 199
Just guessing

after martin done his runs at hit his speed dave was under the assumption that his was going to be a bit shy of it.but i'd still say she cracked 197mph and if dave does decide to up the turbo size,im sure it will be knocking on the door behind martin

in what way helen?
all i'm trying to say is that i was available and offered beforehand to help out in any way when dave took YUM to brunters (carrying spares for example).
for whatever reason, dave did not take me up on that offer. i'm not surprised, as we don't really know each other that well. we've met at a few meets and seen up at mark's etc, but that's it. i know chip well and talk to rod a lot at the monthly meets and up at mark's (where i'm trying to get some part time work), but have only spoken briefly to you and dave. as the magazine paying for the day wanted the results kept secret, perhaps dave felt that as he didn't know me well enough, that maybe he would not ask me along in case the results were leaked against his wishes or something. or maybe he just forgot that i had offered, or didn't feel that he could impose on me or whatever.
i don't know, and aren't really bothered. i made a genuine offer, and would do so again to yourselves and others off the board that i consider to be good people
