just read the following from the Cosworth Repair manual - not put any sealer on when i fitted mine - will it leak oil??
• The rear main bearing cap is cham*fered on both sides to ensure cor*rect seating on the cylinder block. When installing the bearing cap, the chamfered edge should be coated with sealer (Loctite 518). Make sure the sealer is not applied to the flat contact area.

Sealer to be applied only to the chamfered edge.

thing is - there is oil squirting out of the rear side of that main shell bearing anyway. then it must get past the large seal that goes around the part of the crank that holds the flywheel - cant actually see what that sealer would do
