I wouldn't waste your time buying an RS1600i.... if you're gonna rip the engine out anyway you'll need to change the mounts as far as I can remember the twin anti roll bar set up has the gearbox mount in it???

Better off getting a good Mk3 (if you can find one) spraying it Stratos Silver, adding the stickers and spoilers and job done- cost you peanuts then- fuck 3k!

Interior wise I'd have thought you'd changed it anyway so who cares about the seats.

Problem with RS16i's is that they just aint fast... the only thing going for them is the looks and thats a taste to be acquired.. personally I think they look amazing..

Jake

PS- SILVER IS THE BEST!!!
( Caspian blue I believe is the rarest and also pretty cool )

PS....

They might go up for sale for lots of money but they dont really sell quickly and they tend to change hands between RS16i enthusiasts......

They handle well with the adjustable tie bar set up ( tension struts ) and independant rear suspension, with good chassis mods such as those from MEF a decent car can be made

I sold mine in less than 24 hours after putting one post on here and one on RSOC, made a straight £1k profit after 18 months ownership.........be aware the prices of a decent 16i are set to rise and rise. Original straight cars will always make top money and demand is rising because people who lusted after them as kids are now old and rich enought to run them as toys/weekend cars.

I reckon I'm better off buying a genuine car, I'm not interested in finding the rare parts needed to make a nice lookalike.

After seeing the picture posted by 'mondeo man' my second choice is now white

The bonus of using a proper car has to be taking the car to an RSOC meet

You wont get a much better shell than this and although its not your preferred colour it is the rarest:

Martin,
theres nothing rare on them... removing the engine and running gear as you're replacing it.

Rear spoiler, Front Splitter, Wheels, Seats ( get some 2nd recovered in somet nice?? ) Front grill (most will be "fakes" anyway, Fogs and Spots ( not hard to get ) the rest is pretty standard.

I know what you mean about the RS meets though and I also understand the problem of doing a project- strip it for repainting and once you've started digging where do you stop.

You like white- my mates old car....

Shame I cant do better than this for blue....

Bastards, i found a white A reg one in a scrapyard near me last summer, the car had been torched so the interior was destroyed but the bodywork and all orig spoilers were still on it as was the undamaged engine. Had orig date stamped alloys as well.

some cunt bet me to buying it, think he took all the bits off it. gutted just cant sum it up.

wonder if its still there??

The official colour was Caspian Blue as in my pic above, Marco's car was Electric Blue I think and if I remember correctly he said it was a renault colour?

It's currently sitting partially built back up having just had a full body resto and will be turbo'd shortly.

OOPS! and it has no escape hatch as it's a non custom so its right up your street!

On a serious note i know where there is a silver and graph grey one sitting (Scotland), currently in bits, think there is some damage to both, very light and all the bits.
Let me know if they are of use and i'll ask the question.

If you need to know anything about it just ask me and Ill ask for you or pass your number on. My mate would love to see it again, he was bangin on about it the other day again. She still looks lovely.
