depend on what u want really, do you download loads?. I'm with Virgin Media at home and can't really fault them much..

Having unlimited 20meg connection for £25 ain't bad...plus it's being upgraded to 50 by the end of the year

But all depends if u have cable in your street

I'm with SKY, used to be with Orange, and it's ok. Only get the occasional hang-up but it's up and running again within a minute so I can't really complain.
I don't know how much it is as a stand alone, I've got it with TV and phone package.

BT were truly appalling. Homecall were even worse (think they're gone under now). Now with Talktalk. Good deal on phone/net, and had no problems at all.

orange has it's ups and down
when it's down it takes ages to get back on line again, once it was off for 2 months and not a hint of saying sorry until i kicked off about it

sky have been spot on and it was a 1/3rd of the price

Did you not read my reply?? ive been with them years and had no down time, only when it was something i did wrong.
Clearly its a problem your end rather than with the actual service

I'm with Sky. The connection is pretty good I have to say, I've been with them since the beghinning and to start with they were shockingly bad. Sorted out now, but their customer service can sometimes leave alot to be desired and a call centre where they understand English would be helpful too......

Sky here too. No idea what the cost is coz i get phone, line rental, tv, everything from them.

But its 16mb broadband and I'm regularly getting a proper 14mb out in the sticks so its perfect for me. No download limits (good for me as i download lots of legal movies and music).

Never had any times when it didn't work, in a year or so.

the thing with broadband depends on how close you are to the nearest exchange; for arguments sake, if 2 people have orange broadand. 1 lives next to the exchange and the other lives 3 miles from the exchange, the person next to the exchange will always get a better service

Same applies for new housing estates which are being built everywhere; the likelyhood of a exchange being close by is slim, therefore you get a shite service

I'm with BT and live just round the corner from the exchange, and i get an exceptional service, cannot fault it at all

BT are CUNTS! Had no end of problems with them plus the fucking useless help centre staff are idiots. They have absolutely no idea what they are doing even when you tell them exactly what the problem is, you end up getting passed around for hours on end.

I'm probably moving to o2 shortly, fed up with BT.

I live about 8 miles from my exchange and get great speeds. But our exchange does only deal with 22 phone numbers. 3 more and they have to upgrade us to a newer fancier exchange woo hoo

Has gone down a handful of times in the past 5-6 years but its never for very long!!

why yes, all the problems were at my end, but because no fooker has a clue in their admin, when you call they just repeat the smae shit over and over again

you'll change your tune when there is a problem and you wait 2 months for it to be solved

just an update on my 02, connected with ease from aol, didnt even notice any downtime.

i have 3 times the speed now, i know it has to settle so in a few weeks i should know what speed it will be.

im on wireless as well, i couldnt get that with aol for some unknown reason.

router is easy to set up, in fact the whole thing is easy to set up.

customer support was excellent, had a problem with a channel on the router and they sorted over the phone within 5 minutes!!

hopefully i wont be using the 100 day cooling off period, excellent so far

Any idea if you get domain hosting or webspace with O2? I couldn't see any mention of either on their website.
