Default FAO BD10 haters.

Ok...so many will say that BD10s give a lower torque over BHP figure..well here i will prove you WRONG.

Say at 2BAR held i get 430BHP....BUT i spike at 2.3bar up until 6000rpm.....how come you can FEEL the extra boost lower down?...Like it feels like a hand pushes you then you can feel it drop off to the 430BHP @ peak revs for turbo.

So with this then SURELY as it is deffo feeling more power at that RPM,torque figure will have to be higher the the actual held peak figure?

Any dyno/rolling road figures to back up your claims yet Phil?
Thought not

Phil,
Even an idiot like you should be able to see the flaws in your arguement - where are the back to back tests with the standard / different cams? .

FFS Why don't you borrow a set of standard cams and see what YOU really think .

Mike all i am saying is that surely if you can feel the power from the boost spike and then tail off to the held..surely it MUST have a higher torque than BHP rating?

Thus saying that my 430BHP would NOT have a lower torque figure than that unless it was 2bar held all the way to the line..with no peak

Not denying that std cams would maybe give even more torque..but less top end

Matt

If you can FEEL the low down surge of power via the spike you MUST have more torque than BHP surely!

Yes Doug but youd loose on top end power

erm....no

to realise where you are going wrong you need to realise the following

1) what RPM means 1) what torque means 3) how both these arrive to form Power

also i dont understand why you're saying that becasue you get a boost hit low down that means your BD10s are better? when you openly admit that that same hit would be MORE if you used std cams

also just coz you got more peak torque thn peak bhp doesnt mean shit to anything... my dads 1.8 derv rover thing has more torque than bhp... does that make it a fast road car?

if you measure your torque in lb.inches rather than lb.ft then yes, the number will be higher

this is probably the biggest load of clap trap that you have ever "published"

Phil, here's an analogy we would all like to be reality :

Unless I hit you with a bat TWICE how would you be able to tell which one was harder than the other .

So i am right then........

As said in another post mike said i would have less torque than bhp....i disagree because the boost spike with the high comp would give more torque than bhp...regardless of cams..thats the point.

just becasue youve got bost spike does not in any way shape or form mean you have more torque than bhp...

infact its an impossible comment to make. its like saying "i had eggs for breakfast so that means it's going to rain"

I just now realise that Jim phones/mails Stu like mike does harvey...ROFL

well youre in a position to be able to tell becasue you know the parameters of the engine (and know what the map looks like)

we're not becasue we dont know what your engine does topend...

hoever youre making a sweeping statement about BD10s and also about engines producing more torque than bhp blah blah coz of bost spikes...

that's a false statement to make

i asume you have realised why by now?

rememebr, youcan increase peak bhp without affecting peak torque in any way whatsoever...

also peak figures mean feck all really... its the graphs that actually mean something

Well, I like my BD10s

Got more torque than the rear wheels can handle and the car pulls much stronger to the redline than it was without

Plus the exhaust cam makes it fookin noisy

Look @ Del's RR print out on my thread about my power run Phil!!! Then tell me BD10's give you the torque you think they will (as Del was running BD10's at this point until he changed them).

and yes I do have the graph if you want it scanning in!

Because those rollers are KNOWN to exagerate both torque AND power . 485bhp on four 403s? .
