it's not even the wieght or the emissions
it should be abou the amount of weight the vehicle is and the potential damage it can do to the road surface
but now it's the potential amount of emissions, so nothing to do with the amount of damage it's doing ot the roads and all about how "green the government want to be seen to be

Hands up everyone (anyone?) who truly believes these tax increases have ANYTHING to do with saving the environment.
I may be cynical, but do you think that Messrs B & D would get chauffeured to and from Parliament if they really wanted to save the world?

we should cull half of the population, after all we ARE the biggest cause of CO2, breath it out and kill the world... never mind the cars

I don't think its fair at all...
It should be the same for all cars as they're paying to use the road and for the roads to be maintained. A low tax band or free tax car is still going to wear the road away.

why do you think classics should not be exempt, 1 owners have already paid loads of tax on them more that enough to cover the 2wear2 the car has done, and 2 most of these tax exempt cars probably only do less that 1000miles a year anyway so taxing that is a bit off!

Too right it just lines the govs pockets.
I am in favour of tax on petrol, still the only fair realistic way, think cyclists should have to pay as well, and have MOT and insurance, cycle lanes are built at motorists expense, and do you ever see one obeying the traffic lights on red!!
