Default **Passion Ford Rally Day**

12th of April if your intrested

I am Arranging a Rally Day for anyone who is intrested

Stricktly NO Rally Drivers are allowed

There are a lot of people on PassionFord who think they are gods on the tracks so this has been put together so that it can test peoples driving skills to see how well they can adapt to a diffrent Driving Style.

The Venue is a disused airfield in cumbria

Its not a fast top speed venue but is very technical and tricky track with Broken Concrete, loose gravvel and slippy surface especially if wet.

the Circuit is about 2 miles long in total so there will be a lot to think about.

everything would be taken care of in regards of times being kept and people getting there own fair share of time out in the cars

There will be 3 Ford Pumas, Each puma is has a 1.7 standard engine and the cars are stripped out with bucket seats, harness's and a rear weld in roll cages

The Venue, Cars, tyres, Fuel as well as a Focus WRC Simulator "if people get bored" And a passenger Lap in a GRP A Rally Car at the end of the day all included

There will be 2 eazy up gazebos with a Buffet spread with sandwiches, pies crisps drinks tea coffe etc Also with the use of a kettle & microwave

£150 each for the whole turn out, spectators welcome and im sure there are a few photography peeps on here who would probebly come to take a few snaps

The date has not been Set yet as Tim is looking when the rallys are on and i have all the dates of the shows Ect so we do it on a weekend when there looks to be sod all else on But it will be on a Saturday

This was started on another topic and a list was made on there so dont think there is an Favoritism going on...

there are 20 places on a first come first serve basis

once dates are confimed deposits will be taken and then payment will be needed when everything is finalised and its all defanetly going to happen

please Copy and paste the list and add your name to the botom if you wish to be involved

thanks

Ie a handbrake lever that doesnt lock on its own when lifted.

Just if the surface is slippery and mega tight, a FWD is likely to understeer and have crap turn in, so for good progress a lot of handbrake use could well be helpful.

the 'fly off' system is simply a means of reversing the hand brakes locking device, to allow the handbrake to lock you lift it - then press the button, if you dont press it it will just drop straight back down. for those who didnt know,

to be honoust i hate them - id rather not have it lock at all - can get you into trouble

Yes sounds bad, as you'd automatically press it to do a h brake turn.

Anyway, how long would each driver get in car?

eh? they work backwards and have no spring inside to automatically make it go back to lock when you let go of the button.
pull it out to hold it in place, automatically they stay loose, so can pull it up and down at will without it locking, excactly what you need.
either that, or it not locking at all.

looking at the pics they seem to be in the upright position, so they either stock or they been adapted for flyoff use, hense the question, as with the normal setup its more trouble than its worth to use the wand.

FWD on tight slippery surface sounds a mare without one.

the 'fly off' set up alway goes on the horizontal std type handbrake levers that everyone uses, the vertical type ( the best handbrake around to me) doesnt have fly off for the majority as they are usualy just hydraulic

aye. i got a vertical hydraulic one in my car (tho I need to move it, dont get good enough leverage where it is) just asked if these cars has a flyoff button on their normal cable horizontal handbrakes or not...

they are just std cable horizontal items in these pumas iirc, just what you need for the novice, and with them being on drums - they will handrake really well as std.

cool, drums work miles better, my shitbox 2litre sierra was converted back to drums just to get a mint handbrake.

and, just to confirm, as thats all i wondered, they have been adapted so they dont lock (either at all or unless you pull the button out)?

the hand brakes do not lock at all,you pull them the rear wheels lock, you let go,it drops back to the off position,no buttons and no way of leaving them on.i will demonstrate the use of it on the familiarization run at the start of the day.
