Default Live music/bands for a wedding

Gettin married next year, have provisionally booked a band and their own DJ. Had their contract through already, part of their requests are:

1. Hot food/buffet for all members i.e. 5 peeps
2. Free drinks (Alcoholic & soft to the max of 2No each)

Bearing in mind its going to cost me £1500.00 for them anyway with the the above requests I aint going to have much if any change out of another £200.00 on top.

Are they taking the piss or am I being tight?

My one mate said " F**k me are they the Chilli Peppers!" lol

Comments appreciated.

they are taking the piss mate, weve played functions like that and are no where near that price, an all day wedding would be less than a grand mate, like your pal says fook them off and get someone else, theyre prob shit anyway !

£1500 for just the evening reception??
I paid £300 for my live band and got the DJ separate for £200. We got the beers in for the guys but they never 'requested' anything!!

Who'd you have.............'Chas n Dave'

Seriously I'm going off a mates wedding, the band was a member so he got it cheap (he told me they usually charge DOUBLE what he did).

If I can get them cheaper, all well and good!

Sounds about right to be honest, decent bands cost decent money. Mine in may is costing about £1250 for 3 hours of the band on the evening in 3 1 hour sessions and a dj to fill the gaps, we give them food and petrol on top. It is in Surrey tho so prices are steep.

They were voted in the top ten wedding bands in loads of the Wedding magazines and awards and having seen them, they are worth every penny.

Nothing as bad as a boring evening do to spoil a wedding

no mate im about 100 miles from you and we are a rock based band that plays well - rock with a twist on a lot of songs you wouldnt call rock stuff. got a bit of a website though - just need to record some more content onto it www.lokiangel.co.uk

cheers

but as soon as you mention 'wedding' they tripple theyre normal prices. just haggle them and they will come down, if they played a local pub they would struggle to get £400 mate

my band was £850 and i thought that was expensive

giving them food from the buffet is no hardship but them requesting a free drink or 2 is ridiculous! i know drinks aint cheap at weddings but still!

lol. Nah, we went out to a pub and happened to hear a real good local band, so approached them. They went down really well. They are a rock band but that's what we like!
2 friends have booked them for their weddings too.

The £1500.00 is for an acoustic set at the wedding breakfast (Why do they call it that?!) for I think about an hour. They will play a further 2 1 hour sets at the reception and then the disco/DJ. The band is a four piece also - do you think one of them will then do the DJ'

They come highly recommended and have good feedback etc.

Looks about right or not?

The amount you pay should really be related to the quality of musicians/entertainment you expect....a £250-500 band might well be fine in terms of their set but don't necessarily expect the same level of professionalism as a £1500 band. FWIW, for a professional function band, who are providing sound/lighting, I would expect to pay the £1500 you are talking about. However, catering should be at your discretion

they are taking the piss mate.

Both me and my best mate used the same band for our weddings, i paid £300 for them to play 3 hours and anothe £100 to use their pa system for music i had on mp3 on their brakes, they even played for an extra hour for free!! i even got on stage and played and sung 3 songs with them on my guitar.

and they aint crap either. I should think you are too far away for them to travel. though at the rate you were quoted you could put them all up in a hotel and pay for their full english breakfast and still have £100's change!!!

They are called Rekovered. http://www.rekovered.co.uk/ check them out, contact them, you never know. you wont be dissapointed. speak to mike, tell him i recomended them.
