I know it isn't a ford but quite a few people seem to have one so thought I would ask for opinions.Firstly I'm thinking of getting an EVO or scooby but it would have to be also used as my daily driver for travel to work(plus the odd fun on track) etc.So what are they like ie mpg(not expecting lots) reliability general driving and lastly which 1 is better to suit what I would be using it for.Approx 10k to spend.

I had a P reg uk scooby and it was fine as an everday car but crap on fuel, mate has just got an Evo 4 and that is a lot nicer to drive, more comfy and just feels like its a better car. but again crap on fuel.

I am considering the same at the mo but will still have my cossy tucked away in the garage.Wont be spending 10 grand but its the fuel thing that worries me

I don't know what to do either the other option I've got is spend £5/6k on a cossie and keep my mondeo for work and just use the cossie for weekend fun etc by doing this I could save on the fuel cost but would I end up spending more on repairs etc or this only a prob with big power cars as mine would only be stage 1 to start with

depends on how often you want to service also as evo can be every 6 months and scooby a lot more

if i move into the office with a company car i'd find it hard to choose evo or scoob

im using a scooby as a daily driver, fuel economy aont great this week i must admit, ive done 230 miles to 1 and 3/4 tanks amd its cost me about 80 quid im REAL terms

but i have had some fun, 1 tank was wasted on the M11/M25 and a little bit of showing off on sunday

aint had it long enough to talk about actual running though

oh and as for repairs,,,,,,i crashed it at work parking,,,, though i cant blame the car for that one PMSL

evo 6 looks better than scoobys, isnt the evo meant to perform better or am i wrong?

evo 6 is a beter car,, but costs more to run, less of them about for parts should you need to sort panels ect ect out too

hence i went for a classic scooby where theres 4 hundread million of em

dont forget that saying a evo is better than a scoobie is like comparing a supermodel to a film star,,,,,,, ones better than the other but b0th are well above average !!!

Right, i ran an Evo VII FQ300 every day for the last year doing a 40mile round trip to work and it gave me approx 25ish miles to the gallon (not that bad i thought) The big problem with the evo's though is the servicing (every 4500miles) You need to keep the service book up to date as thats a must to anyone thats buying one so when the time comes to sell you need that to be right. I never had a problem with the ammount of services it needed but i bought it fully aware that every 3 or so months it would need to be back in the Mitsi garage. Another problem with them seems to be the clutches. Especially if your doing track days and the likes. I put 1 flywheel and 2 cluthes into mine within the year

But it ticked every box and was great at what it done. Never missed a beat and the clutch issue was down to 400+ miles of bloddy hard track days

As for the scooby i can't tell you yet but just bought a 22B today so will be in a position to do so soon

i've just got an evo 8 for the same reason you want one
only had it a week , great car , not to bad on fuel
just cant wait for my first track day
i can do the servicing my self , so can save on money there

Ive had two impreza's over the years as daily drivers and both were spot on, personally i was put off by the evo's servicing and fuel bills.
I even took my last one to the ring last year and as a standard ish car out performed the cossies that went with us and the evo's as they had to fill up every half hour.
does anyone know what size fuel tanks the evo 5 and 6 had?

i used my scoob for every day use for 2 years,never missed a beat,great cars and under estimated.
Too many people believe the hype about chocolate pistons as well.

I use an 03WRX with a remap to PPP spec every day, is great but averages anout 20mpg as I only do about 5 mile a day to and from work, but on a run will see 28mpg. is only 219 CO2 as well so will only be £300 tax from next year. It has been very reliable I don't think I will be changing it any time soon. I would have loved an sti or even an evo 6 but the repair and running costs put me off.
