Default Cosworth 2.0 Turbo owner again.... ;)

...well, sort of

Unfortunately my new company's car policy is the strictest I have ever come across, with rules for my group being:

4 years old maximum
grp14 insurance maximum
<3litre CC
no convertables

so getting a new BMW 320d Sport Coupe went out the window due to it being a grp15 insurance, and at £29,000 with little options didnt fancy the repayments either! A Focus RS is grp16, Seat Leon Cupra-R grp17, Honda Integra Type-R grp17, the wifes ST170 grp15! and Astra GSI Turbo grp15 so limited on performance choice but at the end of the day I cant moan if they are gonna pay me £470 a month towards funding one and so finally settled for a vehicle that fitted all the family in (including granny and grandad!) yet still had a 2.0 turbo engine (apparently partly or wholly designed by Cosworth!) in the form of the Vauxhall Zafira GSI 200bhp before modifications running 10-12psi (overboost) with what looks like a T2.5 size turbo. Comes with full Recaro heated leather option, Traction Control, ESP, ABS, EBFD etc and hits 60 in just over 7 seconds before mods Let MAD Mark Shead out in it and he was pleasantly surprised by it lol Autronic Zaf coming this way soon! Noticed a 247bhp/292lb chip available as well as bigger turbos and intercoolers etc lol but at the mo with -10 airbags- as standard in the GSI model my missus is running round in it with my two babies in instead and I'm using the ST170 daily and may be permanently if our policy changes in the next few weeks and allows us one extra insurance group jump but still, being funding by the company and under warranty for a change what do I care! Noticed a few ex-cossie owners on the Vaux chatboards too that have gone for the GSI, suppose its the only family vehicle out there at the mo that caters for both familys and a performance mad dad!

(this isnt ours but its identical apart from ours being an 04 (24k new )

Lewis, surely the Astra would be your choice before the Zafira though same spec but in a compact hatch and quicker again because of less weight!

Mind you, this bloke swapped his Astra for the Zafira and prefers the latter! (possibly for the GSI's pulling power... and no I dont mean -just- women! see below!)

RAN - yep, there's no other sports model out there, and the Zafira will be replaced next year with a slightly bigger model called the Zafira VXR - a 240bhp twin turbo model

lol noooo get the blue one as I've already said!!!!!

The only thing it doesnt do too well is fuel consumption lol, regularly eats 28mpg no probs even when cruising but yeah the best thing about it is the size, pics of them always make them appear 'bigger' than what they are, yet when you see them on the road they are only car size just taller, and next to something like a Range Rover it gets absolutely dwarffed lol great pocket rocket though! its the whole package that won me over though, just love the idea of the performance side on one hand and family side on the other, I mean, its got 308mm discs up front there bigger than the cossie lol
