Just some advice
Hope no one minds me speaking out of turn here, but have noticed a lot of coolers fitted to the front of cars. What i have noticed is that some are merely open to let the air flow to them directly....as you would expect.
However, what i have noticed is that no one really funnels the air to the coolers. Laws of physics and turbulences implies that air flows the path of least resistance. Therefore if the cooler is exposed and air flows around the edges of it, then the cooler is not at it's most efficient.
A little mod that may be worth doing is to try and funnel the air so it has to pass through the cooler so that no air (as best as physically is possible) can pass around the edges. A reliable source has seen significant temp drops to see upto 6 bhp and 15 lbft of torque

Hes right tho, if air isnt FORCED to go thru the cooler its nowhere near as efficient.
Look at almost any race car, all oil/air/water coolers have shrouds round them to force the air thru rather than around them

They used to spray loads of expanding foam stuff to totaly seal all the gaps between the radiator and intercooler on Renault5Turbo Cup Racers, tho some air guides would be a neater is not as effective solution

Testing the future
good post fozy
you even see people throwing away the original air guide plates that ford fitted to the front of sierras cos 'they get in the way'.
same with undertrays, ford tested their effects on airflow and then some moron goes and throws it off cos it's a hassle to take it off everytime that they want to do something under the car.
car companies don't spend millions on wind tunnels for the sake of it.
don't forget also, that the intercooler should be sealed to the radiator behind it with foam strips around the outside as well so that all air passes through all heat exchangers. this particularly helps if you've got electric fans on that are mounted on the engine side of the rad as it pulls air thru the i/c at standstill and reduces heat soak, whereas without the rad fans will just pull air from around the sides.
