you mean scrapping the Amal valve all together and just running a bleed?

hm never seen this without a bleed valve
probably not very efficient as wastegaste will be opened very quickly

is the boost that's is running is only what is preloaded onto the actuator?

seems wierd and the Amal valve does do it's work if some1 was to go wrong electically...it will slam the boost off!

compressor to amal, amal to actuator, amal bleed to airbox/cone/atmos

if your on about your car pops you must run the amal to a)bleed enough air off for the mid range boost and b)knock the boost back at higher rpm

pmsl @ mine
i dont touch mine after karl has i run an amal

but this is as i said not running a amal or bleed valve at all, the pipe goes staight from the actuator to the compressor and the airbox is blocked off, running 7ish psi, engine was rebuilt and has just done its running in,so due a set up,just cant get my head round why its plumbed in this way

Must use a very strong actuator spring. But you're right, it is done

lol might have guessed

we ran my engine in like that depends on what actuator you have and how you load it, mines a -34 and ran the min 3mm (half hole) preload to run it in, thats about 15psi...how times have changed lol

Mine was running a Pipe from compressor housing to actuator eliminating the AMAL. I have since reconnected the amal us per STD form and it runs a LOT better now.

What happens to the plug on the side of the amal surely if this is unpluged and replaced with bleed or bypassed it must upset the ECU?????????????

eil, wont cause faster spoolup, infact if anytihng itll be slower

all youre doing here is letting the actuator see ALL the air, so you only get the actuator preload (so if its 7psi thatll mean its ona -31 actuator)

no real reason to do it this way imho, but its not exactly "bad" just means you get naff all boost.

probably done this way so that the car's always in LOW BOOST mode for runining in, stops it bosting too high

Mine didn't have an amal valve when I bought it, just all 3 pipes t'd together. Didn't look right to me so I put an amal on sharpish. Can't say I've noticed much difference to be honest

all am amal valve is is a T peice internally! its just that you can switch it on/off to stop it openeing/closing the middle Ted off bit to the airbox...

a normal T peice is crude, but it will work.

I know but I would assume an amal would have a degree of electronic control over the boost characteristics whereas a T piece wouldn't, obviously. That's why I would have expected something a little different when re-attaching it.

on erst's they remove the amal and then repipe to the crossover to hold steady boost

look in the tech section at the bottom for the post about amal valves and that will explain

the bleed needs to be jetted to allow boost spike , no small jet and ya get get a less spike and the one to the actuator when its jetted allows slower opening of the wastgate

hemce why my car feels soo slow

lee you either 1) had a -34 but didnt realise 2) were running SHEDLOADS too much preload on the actuator

std actuator: 2-4psi (ish)
-31: 7psi ish
-34: 14psi ish

theyre the tensions on the actuators
