Default Have you ever had days where you car doesn't feel quick?

Just gave the car a nice wash and went out for a little drive. Car is fine and engine is fine (running fine no problems) but do you ever feel that your engine just isn't fast anymore or you can remember it being faster/pulling faster.

It may just be in my head or that I've become so used to booting it I'm starting to think its slow. Has anyone else had this feeling before?

I reckon I'm going to get a rolling road done because I've got this feeling that my engine isn't producing the amount of power it should be with the mods I have.

1.8 Zetec K&N 57i, Exhaust, ST Manifold, Decat, Bluefin.

MY K&N doesnt have a direct flow of cold air to it at the moment as I removed it and its been like this for about a month or so. Does anyone reckon after I get a proper cold air feed, I should see a slight improvement?

Cheers guys

just in your head i reckon, get in a different car with similar engine power and then get back in yours and depending on what the other car was yours should feel quicker, at least thats what it felt like when i owned my escort gti and then drove a 1.6 focus.

Now ive got my golf it makes the escort seem shit slow

i used to feel that on some days with my touring. some days it just didnt have that scary edge and other days it would put the smile back on my face. no idea why.would the temperature make much off a difference between hot days and cold days on a low stage tuned car?

you always get that. the calm before the storm when the car feels faster than its ever done before blowing itself up.

Yes every day I stop using nitrous LOL

The amount of times I've gassed it until the top of 4th then run it off gas in 5th and thought I've broke something !

lol cheers for that guys, gives me some reassurance that its not just me. sometimes especially when booting it round the roundabouts and in second gear if I am at the correct rpm, it really feels like its just opening up and pulling hard.

but other times, especially up against someone elses car, its just feels like it aint pulling at all. but its all in the mind at least

it will feel quicker out of the corner any way,due to the direction the car is forcing you.rather than back into the seat straight.

When I got my GTR back from being tuned/mapped after I had run it in it felt incredible (700bhp) but after 2 months of driving it everyday it felt normal and even a bit boring. I then didn't drive it for a couple of weeks and next time out it was incredible again. I think its you just get used to the buzz if you have it regularly.

Everytime I drive the Turbo it makes me think fuck me thats fast! Its sooooo GRUNTY! no revs... just huge usable monster torque everywhere!

Maria REALLY loves the new Astons V8 Vantages... and I have a thing about being James Bond (sad huh!) so we went to look at one yesterday. I feel in love with a blue one with cream leather... and so we both test drive it.

and BOTH thought it was utterly gutless and too slow! Think Maria properly offended the salesman hahahahaha

Sounded great inside!!! but also Looked to girly though in hindsight!

Got back in the Turbo and she NAILED it past the salesman as he was parking the Vantage and once again it felt FUCKING fast!

How do you do smilies on new board?!?!?!?

Just in your head, the mind can play many tricks.

I often find when when i wash one of my cars it feels quicker, newer, smoother. i think its more a case i can see through the windscreen properly.

i know what you mean. weather does have a noticable effect, atmospheric pressure, humidity. Take a turbod car out on a cold crisp morning, it will have 'more go'.
