Default Golf GTi mk2/3 engines

Are they the same 8v and 16v engines in both mk2 and 3? or are they different in any way?

Feel abit thick asking this since ive owned a mk3 16v for a week

I can well imagine, as far as i know mine has only got the full exhaust front to back and i reckon that free's it up alot on its own
Will look into getting it chipped aswell when ive sorted the tyres/service out

you wont regret it, i've been in one, in both a mk3 & a mk2 and they are great. Very often overlooked for a G60 or VR6.
