hi marco, input shafts are bolted in. the 7 inch diff and adjustable rear beam where done when the car had the 420 bhp engine with anti lag.so would have been ok at that spec.

Default update today

i have managed to sort the problem with the plated diff, i had 3 spare crown wheels, and thought they where all the same.so i used the best one i had, after much head scratching it appeared that the vanes on the original crown wheel and pinion had a slight taper towards the center, and the one i was trying to fit did not.changed them over and now its all working again.

i hope you havent just unscrewed the sides, removed the diff unit, changed the crownwheel and refit it ?

the CWP's are matched as a pair, the diff side bearings and the pinion will need to be reset for alignment and pre-load - if you havent don this it will rip itself to bits in a matter on miles mate

markk,i didnt realise the crown wheel and pinions where a matched pair.i have now fitted the original crown wheel and pinion..the output flanges are drilled through the center, and 8mm of bolt screws into the diff unit to hold the shafts in.

so what do the bolts in the middle screw into ?

when you fitted the castle nuts in on the side did you adjust the end float on the mesh between the crown wheel and pinion ? these hold shims and bearings for the positioning of the crownwheel, this must be reset everytime anything has been moved with the diff side plates
