Default the famous s2 starter problem

iv just fitted a new starter motor today and it got the same problem as i had with the last new one.

you all now the problem it's the one when you drive it for about 10 to 15 mins and the car doesn't want to turn over.(sluggish or not at all)

i have made a home made heat sheild and it not to bad if i do say so myself but i still have the same problem after doing about 8 miles

the problem cant happen this quick with 2 brand new starter what else could be the problem?

iv owned about 5 mk4 escorts and thay all end up having the same problem

please help as im losing this battle with somthing so simple

Out of interest what engine is this your having the problem on?

change the thick power wire that goes to the starter moter 100% its that

Stick a diesel starter motor on it, won`t have a problam then

This is my reply from your last post.

I use the two ford head shields and this fixed my problems. I am also using an Escort RS starter.
The 1st raps round the starter to stop down pipe heat and the 2nd you clip onto the oil down pipe and stops heat from the manifold and turbo.

As abdr500 says, change the power wire from the battery and also the the one to the alternator, as this breaks down as well. Had this problem on my RST, years ago and changing the wires solved it.

thanks alot guys i never thought about it could be old tyred wires it's worth a shot, ANYTHING IS WORTH A SHOT NOW

thanks mate i did have a look but the one i made is sheilding all of the starter so i was see if there was any other things it could be

i forgot to say i have a 2 and a half inch down pipe on it and the escort starter was sitting on it
