Default Newman cam selection

Just aquiered a set of solid lifters, What newman cam for a Fiesta RS turbo Stage 2 etc am after a increase in mid range whilst keeping good low end and good idle im not after a screamer or anything but would like to see around 15-20hp plus the extra noise and sounds that go with high lift cams, and info would be good, plus do you have to fit this differenty compaired to hydrolic lifters i know you have to gap them but apart from this

Cheers SEB

Are they Newman Solids?

I would go for Newmans one and only off-the-shelf CVH cam that is suited to most spec's, but it must be used with their Solid followers.

Fitting one is about 10 times harder and more time consuming than fitting a normal CVH cam.

um not sure on the make of the lifters why do they have to be the newman ones, i've looked on newmans website but can only see a phase 4 cam for the CVH and a Phase 4 cam for the ZVH, why is it ten times harder is it just setting the lifters or do you have to do more stuff and how noisy are they compaired to a hydrolic lifter i've been advised by a few to get a newman

The Newman cam and Followers were designed to work together and knowing that the CVH will grab any opportunity to run the cam off, I wouldn't use anything other than their parts together.

Are the ones you have the type with a 'bolt' in the top to adjust or do they require shims?

A normal cam just 'drops' in, job done. A Newman cam requires very long-winded setting of valve-clearances, which, done properly, will take a couple of hours at least and is very specific.

Newman's CVH cam isn't that wild, but is perfectly suited to what most want from the CVH.

They DEFO aren't Newman ones.

There is no way I would risk a spangly new for the sake of using some second-hand followers.

ok what could be the difference in the two then, i think they are kent ones but not 100%, could it just be different material on the top of the bolt, i see that they still have the lip for oil pressure unlike the newman ones, could this cause them to be pushed up and stick to the cam or is this unlikly,

Cheers for the help

The Cam Lifters You have are for the CVH RS1600i and are NOT compatible with our cam.

Newman Cams.
