Your mates resolution is probably 800x600?
You can use code to sniff the browser settings, but the page has to be designed so as it can adapt to differing resolutions (or you design different pages for different resolutions if a greater degree of control is needed) - that page does use %'s for table widths, but with a top image banner of 816px wide, will never fit on 800x600 resolution.

You need to either build to a fixed size such as 750px across which would fill an 800x600 screen and look smaller on higher resolutions or you need to build your pages using percentage widths and use graphics which will allow the page to expand.

hi Bill
i added the table in % to try and reduce the size of the page depending on the browser settings.
In simple terms, if i reduce the top image banner (logo) to say 500px wide would that solve the problem of not fitting the full page on screen?
cheers

Reducing the banner will help, but you need to take into account all images used (as MWF says above), for instance, on the 'beginnerkite' page there are images next to each other also totalling over 800px wide
