The change took place because of cost of the Impreza, being a lower cost option to the Cosworth. (And in my opinion a better car).

heartfordshire had a few modded escos so they could chase bikes/cars on fields!!!!!!!
harder alloys, slightly higher suspension, no front splitter/hockey sticks etc
northumbria had a few esc cos and 4x4 saff marked persuit cars.
you can se them if you watch blues and two`s on UK Gold etc

saffys have nice trims and esc cos`s are fookin flyers!!!!! Sure the escos`s are on greens

yes ive seen them sean .

there was one escort cossie on t.v last week the police were after a stolen car fook me thay were going over the kerbs at 50mph and thay were doing about 60mph over the speed ramps

Seen all those before apart from the Capri, theres also a Black & White picture of a white Police Liveried 4x4 Saph Cossie knocking around somewhere.........

the esc cos's had big sump gaurds etc so they could go over speed bumps/kerbs at about 75mph iirc

West Midlands/Warwickshire Police still have 2 K plate Sapphire Cosworth's as Armed responce cars. Look cool with all the guns and racked out in the boot.

Got talking to one of the coppers that drove one a few years back and he said they are tuned by GGR up to 360bhp
