Default Advice on freeing seized brakes.....

Got my cossie out of hibernation today and my brake pedal is near on rock solid!!

I assume therefore that the brakes have seized on and since i left the handbrake on im assuming its the rears.

although the car does appear to move freely!!

could anyone give me some advice on how to free them?

cheers,

Mark

If its the pistons in the calipers you could take the calipers off off. Remove the bleed nipples and put them in a vice the push the back,

Not very well I would assume

Have you taken it out? Might just be surface rust on the disc etc

If it were the rears seized on the car would not move freely after being left with the handbrake on!!
When I bought my car there was 1 freely moving piston out of four in each front, the rears were ok.
All I can suggest is to take the pads out, putr a thin piece of wood between disc and piston and work in/out a few times, sometimes works sometimes not.
BIGGRED.CO.UK is the man for brakes if you need any.

the brakes are quite important to be in working order. why bodge it? take off all calipers and have them properly reconditioned and replace the fluid with fresh. otherwise you will have problems again

it's possible that there is a problem with the abs pump or valve block if the cars is still mobile and you have a very solid pedal
