Does anyone on here run a stroked Cossie engine?

If so what power/torque and turbo?

whats people general opinion on them?

Well worth doing but the problem is getting the longer stroke crank in with decent length rods as obviously the longer the stroke then the shorter the rod needs to be. But there are ways around having to run really short rods the easiest being changing the pistons for ones with the pin sited further towards the top of the piston or make the block taller.

The end result is that you can run a big turbo and still have the low down drivability of a small one.

I reckon 2.2 is about the max with a std height block if you still want it to feel nice when using high revs.

I don't know why more customers don't go down this route.

Funnily enough I was just in the garage looking for an old car mag and was reading the "Top Car" article on the old Power Engineering RS2400s. If people are interested I could scan it in tomorrow?

Yep I remember the Power Engineering 2400 - used to say it was V8 torque from the old YB etc.

Less of the roll eyes.. Building a proper engine is never cheap but going the extra mile makes all the difference, maybe one day you will grasp that!

I Know Mark thinks 2.15 is optimum with a standard Block height & his stroker has slightly changed rods & a pin moved up the piston. The exact dimension are selected to get the optimum angles, please dont ask what that is because I dont understand it. However it means bespoked Crank, Rods & pistons. Although not cheap its the preparation of the Block to withstand the Big Horsepwer that can be achieved with this combo that costs the money.

In France there was a tuner called Fochesato which modified a YB to 2.4 (stroke modification as I remember), he claimed 400bhp with 600Nm of torque with the T35.

Id like to try a long stroke and a shorter rod to achieve the capacity, on a road only motor, but the opposite of martins, in that it would be designed NOT to rev, just to achieve a moderate power level (like 400-450bhp) at say 5000rpm but with monster torque for that power and much better torque than normal at very low rpm.
The very high piston speeds around TDC caused by that rod ratio should in theory allow a lot of timing to be dialled in even with fairly high compression as well.

Expensive thing to try "just to see" though obviously as it might end up being shit of course, you dont know with these things till you try, and so far everyone ive seen doing them seems to be doing it for huge power, not just for a moderate power level but very driveable.

The rod angle changes if you lengthen the crank and shorten the rods.

Potenitally thats a good thing at low rpm, but its a very very bad thing at high rpm, so it depends what you are building the engine for.
