Default Signing V5's........

Just wondered if anyone know if you can sign V5's on behalf of someone if there not present to sign it themselves? The thing is, i need to pick a vehicle up for someone and obviously it needs to go in their name. Can i just fill it in with their details and sign it on behalf of them?

Also, can i tax it with their certificate of insurance or do they have to be present?

Cheers.

its "meant" to be signed by the new owner; but there is no signature checking in place, so sign away IMO

as long as you have MOT & Insurance cert you can tax the car for them

if no one is checking then yes, you can do it

if someone is checking then no you can't because you'll get caught

and then it just leaves the seller todecide if you are being honest about where the car is going or if you are about to stich up an old enemy of yours

most of the cars i sell, people tend to put them in someone elses name anyway eg wife's gf's etc so as long as they fill it in and sign it i couldn't give a s**t

It is perfectly ok to sign in anyones name so long as no pecuniary advantage takes place.
