Domestic Energy Asessor (DEA) Training?
Anyone know anything about this new industry? With all houses for sale now needing a Home Information Pack (HIP), an energy efficiency assessment is compulsory.
Im looking to do a training course to become an assessor as Ive heardthe wages are quite good.
Anyone know anything about it to help me?
Cheers.

Just become a Health and Safety Risk Assessor and then you will get paid lots of money for telling people that cracks in the pavement are likely to make you fall over

I've heard they're crap and just point out if the house has insulation and any energy efficient lightbulbs (which the occupier is entitles to take anyway)
If you still fancy it try the Energy Institute.
To be a good assessor your going to have to learn about micro renewables, ground source heat pumps, U-values etc so some technical background will be required.

I looked into it a little while ago but decided to stay with what I was doing .....at the time they were supposed to bring it on there was talk about moving to change date forward, which pissed a few people off. I have a friend who has spent in excess of £10k training and doing all the relevant courses, training, exams, etc
This gives you a bit more info and links to other sites and careers:

Its like any job your not doing. It'll look rosey from the outside but you'll need to make certain you get the work coming through to pay for itself, etc
If you need any more info then I can always ask my friend as he's in his first 6 months so most things are fresh in his mind...
I forgot to mention that Scottish (sp) Energy are advertising for Project Managers ..it night be worth joining them for the training then doing it yourself. Another friend of mine worked for them but as their policy is GREEN, he had to take public transport everywhere as cars are classed as filthy!
